Horizon Auto Logistics launches a Distracted Driving campaign

2023-07-23

Miami, July 23rd, 2023 Horizon Auto Logistics launches a Distracted Driving Campaign in all of its operating markets! Distracted driving is a major factor in road accidents and deaths around the world. Annually, over 1.35 million people die due to traffic accidents worldwide. Up to 68% of those are related to distracted driving. Says Per Folkesson, CEO of Horizon Auto Logistics; “The numbers associated with road accidents, including fatality numbers, caused by distracted driving are significant! It’s just to look around while driving to see the current behavior behind the steering wheel. Certainly, the smart phones are the biggest cause of distracted driving, but not only that, eating and in general not paying attention of what’s in front of you adds to the problem. You see people driving and reading or writing on their phones both at high speeds on the highways and in urban areas at low speed. It shows a lack of awareness or consideration for life, your own and that of others”. The company is effective this week bringing awareness to the problem at all of its operational sites and with special attention to the vehicles, both heavy and light, entering and exiting its facilities. It will further bring awareness of distracted driving in the ongoing interaction with local communities and universities talking about automotive logistics and sustainability of the future. Per continues; “We can have on average 60-70 commercial and private vehicles entering and exiting our facilities daily. Giving all of those drivers a reminder of the importance to pay attention to the road and surroundings will have a positive impact. And of course, especially in relation to our youth, give them a different perspective of road safety and that in fact life is not a given, but acting responsibly and being considerate on the roads does make a difference”. As a company, Horizon Auto Logistics strongly believes in engaging with society and communities on matters of social importance. To find out more about our distracted driving campaign and sustainability efforts, please contact us on: info@horizonautologistics.com

Horizon launches its Sustainability model

2022-05-18

Further to recent announcements and Horizon Auto Logistics partnership with Oak Journey in developing a sustainability strategy, the company today announced the launch of its sustainability roadmap. The work began at the end of last year and in earnest in January this year. The company set-up a sustainability taskforce who built the roadmap under the guidance of, and in cooperation with Oak Journey. Says Per Folkesson, Group CEO of Horizon Auto Logistics: “This is an important step for us and to be in tune with the environmental challenges we see ahead of us and assume greater responsibility for the social well-being and governance of our operations. The framework around the process we have been through was important to us because we want to create ownership of the roadmap in the company. Hence the taskforce was critical, and they exceeded our expectations. Going forward, a sustainability committee will work closely with the taskforce and the rest of the organization getting into gear. Our ambition is as well that Oak Journey remains an integral part of the team, their expertise and guidance has been of utmost importance. Our ESG strategy doesn’t only address the environment, but also the social and economic impact our business and operations are having. Several commitments in this regard are now in place and resources will be allocated to stay the course. Our vision is to meet the targets set by 2030, providing visibility through external reporting.” Horizon currently operates in several markets within the Automotive Logistics sector, providing a full suite of supply chain services for finished vehicles from production to the end market. We are excited to see the results of this in the years to come.” The Company’s Total Logistics model is a disruptor compared to the traditional fragmented supply chain approach in most markets, with emphasis on management and optimization of automotive flows which in turn have a significant positive impact on the environment, and cost efficiency. HORIZON TAKES THE PATH TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

2021-11-22

Horizon Auto Logistics have entered into an agreement with Oak Journey, through its parent company UNI, to build a sustainability strategy. Horizon currently operates in several markets within the Automotive Logistics sector, providing a full suite of supply chain services for finished vehicles from production to the end market. Besides Horizon Auto Logistics, the company further operates under the brands Fast Auto Logistics and Fast Terminal International. Says Per Folkesson, Group CEO of Horizon Auto Logistics: “We have a number of sustainability measures in place at our operating facilities but are driven by creating a more comprehensive and aligned vision. We see sustainability as a range of commitments, not only environmental, but also society and economics which we believe are integral for future generations and we are motivated contributing within this field. It’s a mindset. Within our industry, the focus is logically on a carbon free future, so the EVization we are now seeing is important, but it is not clear to us the environmental impact from the lithium batteries longer term. Nor do we believe the sourcing cycle of components to produce the batteries is fitting particularly well within a sustainability framework. We see hydrogen as a more viable alternative for propulsion, although it requires significant investment in infrastructure to serve the general market. With the assistance and expertise of Oak we will create a roadmap of realistic and impactful sustainability measures, and importantly we will hold ourselves accountable measuring the results.” Says Mauro Castex, CSO of Oak Journey: “A Sustainable Business Model requires a roadmap that reflects the company’s purpose and takes real world experience to include Environmental, Social and Governance - ESG principles into the organization’s strategy and operations. It also takes the commitment of leadership to bring people and technology together to drive meaningful action and value for all stakeholders. OAK Journey’s purpose is to co-create a roadmap with Horizon by putting ESG at the core of its business model, tracking and measuring its performance for building a possible and better future, step by step.” About Horizon Auto Logistics: Horizon Auto Logistics is a global Automotive Logistics Integrator providing a variety of professional value-added services to the Finished Vehicle, Heavy Equipment and Project Cargo Industries. We strongly believe in seamless Supply Chain Operations to reduce costs, shorten lead times, and alleviating capacity constraints while leaving a positive environmental and social impact. We employ a motivated human capital and technological talent, combined with a refined process environment and capable operating system, continuously delivering within these fields, and supported by an innovation platform to deliver technology and services of the future and remain a leader within Automotive Logistics. About Oak Journey: OAK Journey is a consulting company that contributes with people and organizations to encourage the change-maker spirit, connecting ideas, values, and purposes creating innovative solutions for the challenges on the path towards sustainability. We believe in collaboration and protagonist, embracing the diversity and the singularity of each other, to develop a plural vision of the context that we live. It’s about tying the activities together, providing visibility 24/7 and pro-actively detect bottlenecks and manage them. Not all markets and customers are susceptive to this modus-operandi at this time, but in the end, we believe it’s the sustainable path forward to control inventory, minimize risk and to optimize output.” Horizon Auto Logistics provides complete supply chain services for finished vehicles, which includes vessel cargo handling, port operations, yard operations and distribution centers, VPC and EPC services, inland transportation, distribution management and plant logistics.
