Horizon Auto Logistics launches Horizon Ports International

2023-02-01

Horizon Auto Logistics launches Horizon Ports International Horizon Ports International (HPI) began operating in the port of Veracruz, Mexico, on February 1st, 2023, under an agreement with LOGRA entered into earlier this year. The company is part of the Horizon Auto Logistics (HAL) Group of companies, and it’s the inaugural operational site of the company. Says Carlos Renteral, VP & Head of Mexico of Horizon Auto Logistics SA de CV; “Our stevedoring and port operations in Veracruz are an integral part of our operating model in Mexico. We have operated jointly with LOGRA for several years and this relation is now formalized, whereby both companies are looking to significantly grow our automotive operations”. Says Antonio Moreno, Chief Commercial Officer of LOGRA; “In the last five years, we have worked together with HAL to provide a different option to vehicle logistics, this has generated significant efficiencies in the port of Veracruz. We are convinced that strengthening our relationship will not only bring great benefits to the port but also to the Mexican automotive Industry”. Horizon will handle about 150,000 vehicles through the port of Veracruz in 2023 and is expecting to make greater inroads in the years to come. The growth will come by providing improved quality combined with the groups operating model syn3rgy360, an all-inclusive operational modus operandi providing total control of finished vehicle inventories, and the ability for our customers making fast decisions and avoiding bottlenecks. Says Per Folkesson, Group CEO of Horizon Auto Logistics; “It’s with great pleasure we welcome HPI to our group! We have been working on some adjustments to our operating model, and this is phase one. It basically means a transition towards 3 main operating areas, all stevedore and port operations are driven out of HPI, while all automotive logistics such as automotive yard and plant operations, vehicle processing and technical services are driven out of Horizon Auto Logistics. We are doing one more structural change, which we expect to implement later this year and its related to mobility. Basically, HPI and the third new entity feeds into the main operating unit, which is HAL. This structure provides us with an improved ability to focus on operational excellence and new business generation within each segment”. Horizon Auto Logistics operates in 8 markets globally, employing 650 people and handles about 450,000 vehicles and 2,000 equipment’s annually. It provides complete supply chain services for finished vehicles, which includes vessel cargo-handling, port operations, yard operations and distribution centers, VPC and EPC (technical) services, inland transportation, distribution management and plant logistics.
